A 32-year-old Florida man died Friday night shortly after winning a cockroach eating contest hosted by a Deerfield Beach, FL pet store. The contest, hosted by the Ben Siegel Reptile Store, offered a free python to the contestant who could down (and keep down) the greatest number of cockroaches during a four minute period of time. I have to admit, stories like this just blow my mind. People will go to such great lengths to win prizes like a free snake, yet they’re not willing to even consider giving up things like pork or shellfish when confronted with the reality that they are breaking the Father’s instructions by consuming these creatures! In today’s day and age, people immediately cringe at the thought of eating dogs, cats, and cockroaches — but things like shrimp, lobster, and swine’s flesh are considered desirable. Why is that?
