The following teaching by 119 Ministries is the latest in their new series titled, “The Brit Hadasha Series”. This series of teachings aims to show that Yeshua is Messiah through the many fulfilled prophesies contained in the Tanakh (“Old Testament”). This particular teaching is titled, “The 4th and 7th Day”, and it deals extensively with the prophetic passage of Isaiah 53. Much of modern-day Judaism rejects the belief that Isaiah 53 speaks of the Messiah, and instead holds to the idea that these Scriptures are referring to Israel. Below is a reply that I wrote to an individual in response to her claim that the Tanakh (Old Testament) was not a necessary read for believers today. She takes the position that everything needed to properly walk out our faith (and be saved) is contained in the Messianic Writings. I disagree. As shocking as it might be for some of us to see a so-called believer openly devalue the very Scriptures that our Messiah taught from, it is the logical end of the road that one comes to when they believe the “law was done away with”. As followers of Yeshua, it is important that we can prove His identity as the promised Messiah of Israel solely by using the Scriptures found in the Tanakh.
