I was enlightened, just want to know is it ok to eat clams, oyster and mussels? Thank you and God Bless.

Shalom Charmaine, I am so glad that the teaching was helpful for you.

Regarding your question, clams, oysters, and mussels are definitely “off the menu”. In Leviticus 11, we are given the criteria for that which is permissible to eat:

“These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers — that you may eat. But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you. They shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination. Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales — that shall be an abomination to you.” -Leviticus 11:9-12

I hope this helps. If you have other questions, please feel free to ask. 🙂

        Shalom Jason!

        How about this verse?

        1 Corinthians 8:8

8 BUT food does not bring us near to God; WE are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

          Shalom Charmaine!

“Food” is defined for us in Leviticus 11. Nowhere in 1 Corinthians 8 is the consumption of unclean animals (“an abomination”) in focus, it concerns “food” (meat from a Scripturally clean animal) which may have possibly been offered to idols.
